Boost Yields with Centuro Nitrogen Stabilizer
Oct 15, 2024
With harvest rolling, it won’t be long before temperatures cool off enough to start putting on fall anhydrous for next year’s corn crop. The standard time to start is when soil temperatures dip below 50 degrees and soil activity decreases significantly. The soil activity we are concerned about is the microbes that convert the nitrogen we apply to nitrate, which can be easily lost to leaching or denitrification. Even following the 50-degree rule, soil activity is not zero, and eventually, it will go above 50 in the spring, so nitrogen losses are still possible after application.
One way you can protect your nitrogen investment from these losses is by applying a nitrogen stabilizer with the anhydrous. The product we recommend is Centuro, made by Koch Agronomics, and this is available at all of our NH3 facilities. It is non-corrosive and is put directly into the tank, making it easy to handle and use. Over a three-year study done by Koch, they saw an average of 6 bushel increase over untreated fall NH3. If you would like to learn more about how Centuro can benefit you, contact your nearest location or Strategic Account Manager.
